Seven Springs Pennsylvania
, located in the Laurel Highlands is always alive with interesting, fun special events. From county fairs to small town festivals, special holiday attractions, farmer’s markets, flea markets, arts and crafts fairs and more. The following is a list of just some of the family fun activities and special events found in the Seven Springs/Laurel Highlands region, listed by town.
The Town of Somerset
Ribs, Run & Family Fun – a 4th of July event.
Annual Dog Days of August – there is a “dogs on parade,” Doggone contests, a Dog Beauty Pageant, ice cream eating contest, games and much more.
“Somerset Ethnic Food & Craft Festival” – usually held in September.
The Town of Springs
Annual Springs Folk Festival – a celebration of the arts, skills and labors of our forefathers. Watch the women baking bread and weaving, the men hewing logs and threshing grain and the children enjoying themselves on an old-time hayride. The lilting notes of blue grass groups, gospel music and children singing a capella fill the air with continuous performances in an enclosed program building.
Springs Farmers Market – the largest farmers market in the area. Over 80 local farmers and craftsmen provide a wide selection of fresh picked produce, home baked goods – including doughnuts fresh made that morning – quilts, antiques, plants, tools and flea market items. Held every Saturday May through September.
The Town of Ligonier
Annual Ligonier Highland Games – held in September. Bagpipes on Parade, Highland Dancers, international performers, Scottish Fiddlers & Harpers, Scottish dog exhibit, storytelling, children’s games, Scottish Fair, genealogy workshop.
The Town of Greensburg
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts & Crafts Spring Fever Festival in March at the New Expo Center
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts & Crafts Colonial Festival in September at the New Expo Center
The Greater Pittsburgh Arts & Crafts Spectacular in November at the New Expo Center.
The Town of Meyersdale
Annual Maple Festival – held in March. Each year, thousands of tourists celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring by journeying to Meyersdale and the Pennsylvania Maple Festival. This quaint little town is nestled in the mountains of Pennsylvania's southern Laurel Highlands. See living history tours of the cobbler shop, an antique doctor’s office, country store, enjoy arts & crafts and live entertainment.
